Imagine – You inspire we create

A smart cabin journey

We create products and services that offer a seamless experience for passengers, airlines, crews and MRO staff, all enabled by smart management tools. Today, the challenge for cabin interior suppliers extends well beyond manufacturing and delivering cabin products to OEMs and airlines. Innovation excellence enabling full connectivity in an aircraft cabin is another key requirement. Our focus is to develop new digital solutions, services and visionary systems for a smart cabin that turns today’s visions into reality.

Our smart cabin products are developed with our customers.

We focus on three user groups: the passengers who use the cabin interior products, airlines with their flight attendants and fleet managers who work with the products, and MRO and catering providers who ensure that the products are ready-to-operate. With passengers’ needs in mind, we aim to do more than simply make the cabin a smarter place. We plan to revolutionize the entire passenger experience, covering everything from the preboarding process, seamless connectivity and infotainment, as well as intelligent possibilities for flight crews and airline operators, to extensively modified MRO services and control mechanisms.

The key to this new approach is connectivity. Our technology for a Cabin Area Network System and Services (CANSAS) is a modular cabin system that encompasses virtually all cabin functions within the aircraft and benefits from an intuitive open-platform interface, allowing us to enhance the concept of a smart cabin to a modern, intelligent level.

At Diehl Aviation, our focus is always to develop comprehensive solutions to the benefit of passengers, to enable smooth operations for the crew on board, and allow lower maintenance costs for airlines.

The new field of smart cabin technology with its wealth of varied opportunities will remain a significant, interesting and evolving area.
And this is why we have launched our IMAGINE campaign – to create a forum for ideas, visions, creativity and flashes of inspiration and imagination; to start interacting with the technology of today and tomorrow.

Every element of the flight process offers a variety of starting points for a smart cabin concept – from passenger preboarding and boarding preparations by the crew, to subsequent maintenance work by the MROs. At Diehl Aviation, we see ourselves as a partner and enabler for every conceivable smart cabin integration.

To see our way of doing things for our customers, IMAGINE the following scenarios.

Airport – At the gate

The Diehl Aviation smart cabin with services and compatibility with other airline applications helps to create a consistent user experience. Airport navigation and entertainment, music and movies on personal devices or in the cabin are now possible. Thanks to personalized passenger engagement, more shopping and last-minute booking options, plus a personal storage space in the cabin, it is possible for airlines to increase their ancillary revenues in a new, smarter way.

Pre-Boarding

Pre-Boarding

There is a new way for airlines to brand or rebrand and, in particular, personalize the entire cabin, treating it like a blank canvas. We’ve created several options for choosing any color and decor – for the lighting, decoration, logos, special moods and any digital advertising with content that can be changed instantly. The flight crew can also prepare a welcome screen for special passengers and occasions. We rely on innovative OLED technology for displays and projections

Maintenance & Repair

Maintenance & Repair

Thanks to the Diehl Aviation smart cabin, MROs benefit from a complete and visionary insight for prognostic health management. Smart evaluated technical data is sent during flights to the MROs so that they can prepare for maintenance, repair or reconfiguration work as soon as the airplane lands. The MROs also know exactly what to refill in the smart galley and the smart lavatory. Smart instruction manuals enhanced with augmented reality on smart devices help to reduce the time, cost and labor required for these tasks.

Reconfiguration

The smart cabin system architecture with the new Flex PSU supports PSU adaptation. A rail system for flexible mounting and positioning, including reliable electrical connections and power line communication, allows the cabin layout and seat pitch to be reconfigured with minimum effort. Digital seat row numbers and digital placards also simplify and accelerate the reconfiguration process
